Coccothrinax Crinita ‘Old Man’ Palm Tree is native to Cuba and grows in seasonally flooded savannas and occasional hilly areas.
The fan-shaped dark green palmate leaves of this solitary palm form a mesmerizing spiral pattern that sits atop a dense, woolly mass of pale brown fibers that beard the trunk in its entirety. On average the Old Man grows 8-10 ft in height but has been recorded as tall as 30 ft.
This gorgeous, truly tropical palm enjoys high humidity and a spot sheltered from the wind. The Old Man Palm thrives in full sun with fair to moderate water and well-drained soil. Coccothrinax Crinita prefers temperatures above 50F but can even take a short light frost without damage.
